End User License Agreement (EULA)

Important information that outlines your usage of the product.

The Main User Interface (UI)

As soon as the EULA is accepted, and the “OK” button is clicked, SQL Agent Insight gets to work. You will notice in the status bar, in the bottom left, the “Enumerating all (visible) supported versions…” message. SQL Agent Insight is enumerating all instances of SQL Server that it can find on the local network segment.

Available SQL Servers

Upon completion of the enumeration, if any SQL Server instances are found, they will be visible in the “Available SQL Servers” pane to the left of the main user interface window. Furthermore, by moving your mouse over the instance name, the tooltip will show the build number for the SQL instance in question.

Connected and Recently Connected Servers

Also of note on the left-hand side are two additional panes; the “Connected SQL Servers” pane, and the “Recently Connected Servers” pane.
The Connected SQL Servers pane will show all SQL instances that are currently being monitored along with their monitored status.
The Recently Connected Servers pane will populate with SQL instances that have been successfully connected too in the past for quick and easy future connections, by double-clicking on a SQL instance name.

Quick Access Panel

Over to the right-hand side of the main window, there exists the “Quick Access Panel”. As more windows are opened within SQL Agent Insight, they will show up in the Quick Access Panel, allowing for single-click focus of the desired window.

Expand / Collapse Buttons

To give your Insights more screen real estate, toggle the collapse/expand buttons (three in total) to hide/show their respective panes:

  1. Available SQL Servers,
  2. Quick Access Panel,
  3. and directly above the main toolbar.
The three expand/collapse buttons to allow for greater screen real-estate for other windows.
